VSF’s work involves women, children, families and sensitive maternal-health information. Their safety, privacy and agency come first.
This public statement describes the standards expected across VSF activity. Detailed internal procedures govern reporting, assessment and response.
Our commitment
VSF seeks to prevent harm, exploitation, abuse, harassment and avoidable exposure of sensitive information. Trustees, team members and volunteers are expected to act within their roles and report concerns promptly.
Stories and photographs
Beneficiary stories and images are shared only with consent. Consent does not remove VSF’s responsibility to present people respectfully, limit unnecessary sensitive detail and respond if circumstances change.
Working with beneficiaries
Access to beneficiary information is limited to people who need it for an authorised purpose. Volunteers working with women or children are subject to role-appropriate checks, boundaries, confidentiality and supervision.
Raise a concern
If you are concerned about conduct connected to VSF, email info@victoriassmilefoundation.com with the subject “Safeguarding concern”. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency or statutory service.
